Nasa TESS telescope usually finds planets by watching a star dim. This time it found one a different way, through an effect called microlensing. A passing star bent the light of a background star and revealed a hidden planet. It is the first planet TESS has caught with this trick. The target lies toward the crowded center of our galaxy. The find shows the telescope can hunt planets in more than one way. It is reported in a new scientific paper.
