Nasa is building toward a lasting base on the moon. It just picked three companies to carry four new science missions there. The landings are planned for late 2028. Each mission will drop instruments and gear to study the lunar surface. The plan also includes fresh work on moon rovers. Sharing the load with private companies is meant to speed things up and lower the cost. It is one more step in a long march back to the moon, this time to stay.
